Dr Alastair Bint, MBChB DGM DFSRH DRCOG FRCGP MEWI, is a full time GP partner in an NHS General Practice with a 10,000 patient population, in Guildford, Surrey. This website relates to his work as an expert witness in medical negligence cases.
Dr Bint is accredited with the Expert Witness Institute, the UK Register of Expert Witnesses and AvMA. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners, gained by assessment, the youngest elected Fellow in their history. He is a commentator for them on medico-legal and professional regulatory issues. Additionally, Dr Bint trains junior doctors in General Practice, works as a Clinical Lead and is Chairman of the South West Thames faculty of the Royal College of General Practitioners. He is clinical champion for integrated healthcare in Surrey and sits on the executive board of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex postgraduate medical education school. He is author of numerous medical and medico-political articles and has written guidance for the UK register of Expert Witnesses. He has been a commentator on legal texts for Oxford University Press.
Dr Bint has received instructions from all over the UK and Ireland and he has been invited to give expert testimony in GMC fitness to practice cases. He has advised in Judicial review cases and been appointed independent expert in PCT cases. He is widely considered to be a robust witness and his strength as an expert comes from his ability to set out simply and clearly the expectations of reasonable medical practice. Dr Bint does not generally undertake personal injury work, preferring instead to concentrate on breach of duty and medical negligence. Dr Bint complies with Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules (1998 and revised Oct 2009).
